Disney's Approach to Business Excellence, the Disney Institute's traveling professional development program, will be coming to UCCS on March 23. For $395 ($345 with promotional code), the program will offer students and professionals insight into the business practices and principles that have been the backbone of Disney's success for the past 75 years.

The day-long event will be held at the UCCS Gallogly Events Center, and will cost $395 per person. The event includes a full day of catered meals and beverages, as well as course materials.

The event will include four 90-minute sessions, such as Leadership, Management, Service, and Loyalty from the Disney approach. No prerequisite training is required to attend the event, group discounts are available, and a $50 discount is available to students, faculty, staff and Colorado Springs community members wishing to attend the event by using the promotional code UCCSFEE.

According to Associate Vice Chancellor for Administration and Finance, Susan Szpyrka, "[The campus] worked with management company and program sponsor, Solution Infusion, to bring Disney's Approach to Business Excellence to UCCS."

The Leadership session will discuss communicating a compelling vision, building involvement and ownership, organizing for maximum involvement and capitalizing on change.

The Management session will explain the dynamic of corporate culture and employment environment. Aspects like hiring, training, and motivation will be covered.

In the Service session, the Disney Institute facilitator will highlight the principles behind Disney's world-renowned customer care, the service philosophy, theme and culture.

To wrap up the day, loyalty strategy will be explored in building and maintaining loyalty in the corporation.

For those wondering who might benefit best from the program, Szpyrka responded, "As to what major this event caters to, there is no restriction, but those students studying business leadership or service will likely be most interested in the content. It doesn't matter what industry a student is planning to work in, either. Anyone desiring to improve skills, business, organization, non-profit, etc., can benefit from this program."

A Disney Institute facilitator will be running the event. The team of Disney facilitators is comprised of successful business leaders, entrepreneurs, educators and executives who are veterans in the Disney system.

The Disney Institute was established in 1986, and has since shared innovative Disney business strategy with business oriented people from all over the world. The program tries to present business strategy in creative and interactive ways, with personal stories integrated into the facilitator's presentation.

UCCS senior and business major, Jordan Dahlinger, says that he was unaware of the program and commented, "I think the event may be tough for college students to afford, but it's a great idea and would be extremely helpful in my education and career goals."
