After worries that the concert might be called on account of lightning, 3OH!3 took the stage last Thursday in the harsh weather. The concert was well received by the crowd and 3OH!3 made the night.
Originating from Boulder, Colo., 3OH!3, named after the area code and comprised of CU Boulder alums Sean Foreman and Nathaniel Motte, began mixing beats in their basement and were eventually signed to Photo Finish records. Best described as electro-pop rap, 3OH!3 mixes beats with rhyming lyrics.
Before the concert, student Jordan Hendrickson said that she liked 3Oh!3. "They're a different band with a unique style."
Student Katie Pehoviack said that she thought the turnout was impressive. While waiting for the concert to begin, Courtney Bazanson said, "It's pretty packed. We got tickets the first day they went on sale."
3OH!3 began the concert with the easily recognizable "Punk Bitch," creating an uproar complete with moshers and crowd surfers.
Continuing the momentum with their songs "Star Struck" and "I'm not your boyfriend," 3OH!3 then remixed the song "My President is Black" by Young Jeezy to their own beats and followed with "Rich Man" and "Hornz."
The highlight of the night was the song "Colorado Sunrise," where anti-rain dancing began and Foreman flipped his mic.
While many crowd members were focused on jumping the fence to the dismay of the security guards, Sean Foreman asked to see the crowd's best dance moves. Ironically, the tallest guy dancing won after an impressive robot, which then spurred Foreman and Motte to do a robot beat box.
At one point in the night, Foreman was hit in the head with paraphernalia from the crowd. He recovered and the duo finished with the top 40 single "Don't Trust Me."
3OH!3 announced that they will be touring with Cobra Starship this summer and will be playing at The Fillmore Auditorium in Denver, Colo. on May 21. For more information on 3OH!3 and their music, go to 30h3music.com.
