Her job is not an easy one: She is one member of a staff of peer tutors, the first line of advance in the Financial Aid Office, and, like the DMV, a certain amount of irate behavior from customers can be expected daily doing her work.
Valentine’s Day can be a romantic and special day for couples. It’s the one day out of the year that they have an excuse to buy each other cheesy gifts and spend too much money on dinner at the Mona Lisa in Manitou or MacKenzie’s Chophouse in downtown Colorado Springs.
Although Colorado Springs is not exactly a hotbed of exciting extracurricular activities, there are still a myriad of things a single person can do on Valentine’s Day. “There are plenty of places to go out drinking,” says senior Zachary Pingatore. And Colorado Springs is great for outdoor activities like hiking and camping, “especially because Valentine’s day is on a Sunday this year,” said Pingatore, so you can spend the whole weekend otherwise engaged.
February is the month for love and bliss. Valentine’s Day is the big day that no one wants to spend alone. Anjali Desai and Bryan Jones got the invigorating opportunity to be set up on a blind date for this special day. The couple was able to enjoy their date at the calm and welcoming environment of Pikes Perk Coffee Shop off of Vickers and Academy.

American Opportunity Credit: Form 8863
The American Opportunity Credit is the best credit available to independent students whose modified adjusted gross income is $80,000 or less, or $160,000 or less for married couples filing a joint return. The credit is phased out for taxpayers with incomes above these levels.

A not so silent plea for Haiti
On Feb. 26 a silent auction put on by the UCCS French Club, Pikes Peak Community College (PPCC), Colorado College (CC) and Palmer High School will be held at the Antler’s Hotel Ballroom from 5 to 8 p.m. The auction will feature artwork and jewelry from students, faculty and community members, and 100 percent of the funds will go directly to relief efforts in Haiti.
