The art scene in the Springs has been called "anemic" and "barren" by some. This spring, though, the creativity is burgeoning with the weather, and a number of native art galleries are hosting shows that range from intriguing to beautiful to bizarre to educational to those that offer you candy for attending. The gallery is like a photo journal of the life of rock ‘n' roll, detailing in pictures its birth, development, modernization and continuance. The walls are hung with stirring, action-packed images of Jimi Hendrix, David Bowie, B.B. King, Janis Joplan, The Rolling Stones and many more. Peakradar.com noticed that she often uses facial expressions to portray involved stories, with the subjects of her drawings usually slightly contorted to reveal more specific emotional undertones. "The drawings range from exaggerated childhood memories to images more ordinary to adults," the site read. The View From My Window Location: Presented by Commonwheel Artists Co-Op at Commonwheel Artists Co-Op Address: 102 Cañon Avenue, Manitou Springs, CO 80829 Type of show: Paintings, Raku Art Pottery and Fused Glass Artist (s): Marica Hefti, Jerry Rhodes, Janine Sheehy Duration of show: April 9 to May 10 As the seasons change, artists Marica Hefti, Jerry Rhodes and Janine Sheehy have worked to create pieces that capture the "beauty [that] lies not only in the physical changes in the landscape, but also in the changes we experience within ourselves on a daily basis," explained Sheehy. A mix of abstract marbled pottery (Rhodes), lushly subtle paintings (Hefti) and fluid glass art (Sheehy) capture the natural views of the Springs with color and life.
